Latest Controversy
After becoming the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab in the Assembly elections, Bhagwant Mann started his new personal life when he married Dr. Gurpreet Kaur. Before that, Inderpreet Kaur got into the headlines again when her name arose in a complaint filed by Harkirat Singh Sakrali, a resident of village Nabha against Bhagwant Mann. In his lodged complaint, he claimed that Bhagwant Mann had kept secret his marital status in election affidavits. He claimed Mann wasn’t legally divorced but had filled in “Not Applicable” in the spouse column. Further, as Sakrali claims, no decision was passed on the divorce. Later the Returning Officer of Dhuri dismissed the allegations saying she had neither received any such complaint nor it is the prerogative of RO to check and verify the marriage status of the candidate unless having serious criminal background.
